How It Works

bulkcrop.ai is designed to make batch cropping fast and simple.

Adding Images

Drag and drop images into the editor, or click to browse. Supported formats:

  • Standard: JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF
  • Apple: HEIC/HEIF (converted in browser)
  • RAW: CR2, NEF, ARW, DNG, and more

All format conversion happens in your browser — no upload required.

Settings

Aspect Ratio

Choose from preset ratios (1:1, 4:5, 16:9) or set a custom ratio. Use "Free" for unconstrained cropping.

Smart Detection

Enable AI-powered detection to automatically center on:

  • Face — with configurable framing (tight, standard, loose)
  • Half-body — head to waist
  • Full-body — entire person
  • Product — objects and products

Presets

One-click presets for common use cases:

  • LinkedIn — Square profile photo, face-centered
  • Headshot — 4:5 professional headshot
  • US Passport — 2×2 inch, 600×600px at 300 DPI
  • German/EU Passport — 35×45mm, ICAO compliant

Editing

The Photoshop-style crop editor lets you:

  • Drag to reposition the image
  • Scroll to zoom in/out
  • Rotate for perfect alignment
  • Toggle guides (rule of thirds, passport overlays)

Use "Apply to All" to batch-apply settings across all images.

Exporting

Export options:

  • Formats: PNG, JPG, WebP, AVIF
  • Quality: Adjustable compression (1-100)
  • Size: Fixed dimensions or original size
  • Batch: Download all as ZIP

Technical Details

Browser-Based Processing

  • Canvas API — cropping and rendering
  • WebAssembly — advanced encoding (MozJPEG, OxiPNG, libwebp, libavif)
  • Web Workers — non-blocking exports

Smart Detection

When enabled:

  1. Your image is compressed to ~1000px
  2. Compressed image is sent to the detection server
  3. Server runs MediaPipe detection and returns face/body landmarks
  4. Crop position is calculated in your browser
  5. The server never stores your image — it's processed in memory and immediately discarded

FAQ

Is it free? Yes, completely free. Smart Detection is limited to 100 detections per hour to keep the service running smoothly.

Do you store my images? No. Cropping happens in your browser. Detection requests are processed in real-time and never stored.

What browsers work? Modern Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge. Mobile browsers too.

Offline support? The editor works offline, but Smart Detection needs internet.
